Grow your confidence and skill as a teacher by honing your ability to listen, adapt, collaborate, and create—and have a lot of fun in the process!
Ashley taught me the skills and gave me the confidence to break out of my comfort zone and enjoy playing in the moment. ~ Kate B.
The class and the way Ashley taught it was a revelation and a new way to look at the world and live in the moment. I loved it so much and can't recommend taking an improv class (especially with Ashley as a teacher) enough. ~ Matt E.
The best part of Ashley's class was her ability to explain without judging, ability to be very direct in a playful way, and most importantly creating an environment where everyone feels safe and appreciated…Joining her class is one of the best choices I have ever made. ~Eric B.
The first of six class sessions has taken place, but you can still join!
Teaching well calls for careful listening, collaboration, open-mindedness, creativity, flexibility, and much more. Some of these skills are developed on the job, over time. But they can be honed at whole new levels through formal training in improvisation, where these skills are part of every interaction and decision.
Much of our stress as teachers can be reduced or be faced with greater confidence with this kind of intentional training. It can also help us become able to serve a wider range of students in a wider range of situations.
The Ever-Ready Educator uses a professionally designed improv curriculum that has been customized to help teachers grow pedagogical skill and confidence. Over the course of six weeks, you will...
Deepen your understanding of relationship-building
Learn to listen with your whole body
Become more comfortable accepting things you cannot control
Become more patient with developing situations
Learn to use your physicality for specific communicative purposes
Gain confidence in both casual and high-stakes settings with colleagues, guardians, and other groups
Have fun in the process!
Each two-hour class session will consist largely of learning and playing improv games and exercises that target a particular skill. Classes will also include discussion of specific applications to educational situations and to the life of a teacher.
The Ever-Ready Educator is for you if...

Ashley Davis is an elementary educator as well as a seasoned improviser and improv instructor. A “theater kid” from the age of nine, she took her first improv class on her 30th birthday as a present to herself, and never looked back. Since that first day she has gone on to become a troupe member of a house team at her home theater, a teacher in the adult improv series, and a director of the children’s theater workshops and classes. She has performed on stages across Michigan and taught hundreds of students at all experience levels. She believes strongly that improv is for everyone and will change your life for the better.

As an improv teacher, coach, and performer, Ashley Davis is the real deal. I joined her class as a nervous beginner but by the end she had made me feel completely at ease. I learned a ton from Ashley about trusting my instincts, supporting my scene partners, and being confident as a speaker and performer. In any class Ashley teaches, students feel truly accepted, supported, and seen. ~ Beth S.
Ashley was my very first improv teacher and changed my life! Seriously, and with no hyperbole. Her classes gave me confidence and comfort in being myself (that I never knew I had) that I use not only on an improv stage, but in my daily life as well. She created an incredibly welcoming and creative space that allowed each student to discover and grow at their own pace and comfort level. There was absolutely no discomfort, judgment, or anxiety. It was only shared laughter, learning, and personal growth. For me personally, the class and the way Ashley taught it was a revelation and a new way to look at the world and live in the moment. I loved it so much and can't recommend taking an improv class (especially with Ashley as a teacher) enough. ~ Matt E.
